Materials
Composite costs more up front and asks almost nothing of you afterwards. Pressure treated costs less and wants cleaning and sealing on a schedule you will resent in year four.

Adding a cover to a deck that was not framed for one usually means rebuilding the structure. Framing for it at the start costs very little.
